X-Ray Before and After Mini-Tightrope Bunionectomy
This is the x-ray before and after the surgery. The “button” that is on the inside of the phalanx and the one between the first and second metatarsal connect a fiber that goes through the first phalanx, around the joint and back into first metatarsal. This is to repair the medial capsule made necessary by the very severe deformity.
Most mini tightrope bunion procedures would just have four buttons and two fibers that go through the first and second metatarsals. The fibers are not metal so you can’t see them in the x-ray.
